If you have more time to allocate I’d say that a 4th day in Paris would be worth it. My 22yoa daughter and I want to do a first time 2week trip to Europe in late Sept. She’s listed Ireland, London, Paris, Amsterdam and Switzerland or Belgium as her preferred destinations. Bosnia and Herzegovina is another country you might want to explore. I’d recommend Amsterdam and Paris for sure and that would take 6 or 7 days. Starting in Paris and then flying into Italy will be a great start, but it’s much more efficient to fly from Paris to Venice and then take short train rides to Florence and then to Rome and then to Sorrento, which is where you’ll transfer to the Amalfi Coast. I think I’d do just those two if I had a week, but Paris and Amsterdam work well together as a pair and Amsterdam has mild summers as well. If you will also do some shopping, that would have to be added on. That way you could stay in the city centers and take public transportation so there isn’t so much walking.
